American Idol

Top iTunes songs - Most Popular Downloads

1. Anoop: Usher (Caught Up): 1-866-IDOLS-01
Nope, he's not Usher. There's only one Usher! He'll probably be in the bottom 3. I agree with Simon "complete and utter mess."

2. Megan: Bob Marley (Turn Your Light Down Low): 1-866-IDOLS-02
Nope, she's still not doing well. That was so awful. She's only staying because they have to vote off some girls. When the guys out number the girls by 3, you gotta kick some guys off.

3. Danny: Rascal Flatts (What Hurts the Most) : 1-866-IDOLS-03
Bad song choice. Didn't we just have country week? Why do I have to sit here and be tortured through this song? As much as I don't care for this song, the original is wayyyy better!

4. Allison: No Doubt (Don't Speak): 1-866-IDOLS-04
First off, loved her hair! Loved her. LOVED THE OUTFIT!

5. Scott: Billy Joel (Just the Way You Are): 1-866-IDOLS-05
Loved it! The perfect song for him!

6. Matt: The Fray (You Found Me): 1-866-IDOLS-06
He was okay. Don't get why he had to have the audience around him? He was shouting more than Allison did. I agree with Simon.

7. Lil: Celina Dion (I Surrender): 1-866-IDOLS-07
Not feeling it. Sorry Madi.

8. Adam Lambert: Wild Cherry (Play That Funky Music): 1-866-IDOLS-08

Sorry's Not Good Enough

This blog post isn't just another promoting a band. It's just because I can't freaking get enough of this band from England! I don't know why, but all weekend I have been listening to McFly. I have loved them since I saw them in Lindsay Lohan's movie Just My Luck. I don't know why I never got around to listening to love but I have listened to almost every one of their songs, haha just kidding. They have been big in England for like four years, and they have had like 4 or more cds, so I know that I haven't listened to every one of their songs. But I have "Sorry's Not Good Enough" stuck in my head all the time now.

here's the link for Sorry's Not Good Enough because I can't post it on here.

That Girl is so adorable!

I love I'll Be Ok because its just so calm compared to their other videos.

This just shows some of the crazy things they do.

After I watched a bunch of their videos, I have just about seen all of them. Europeans aren't afraid to show it all, well almost all of it, if you know what I mean.

Oh yeah, I don't think I'll ever be able to pick a favorite. THEY'RE ALL TOO DAMN ADORABLE!!

This is the Good Fight

March 22nd, 2009, somewhere between four and six-thirty in the afternoon. I was sitting at yet another Monarchs' game. I decided to use my iPod touch and went onto myspace to check my inbox during intermission. One new message. As I was waiting for it to load, I was trying to figure out who it could be from. I mean, I wasn't having an on-going conversation with anyone.

So I was guessing that it had to be from a band. And I was right. But this time it was from a one-man band called This is the Good Fight. But you can also call him Aaron. He was asking me to check out his music. Once I got back to school from the game and eating out with my friend Krissy, I obliged and went to his myspace, since I love music so much and have been promoting bands for the past few months.

Here's some questions I asked him so y'all can know a little about him. It sucks that I couldn't interview him in person. But with school and whatnot, I can't go to Texas right now. I would love to! Meet him and my friend Kelsey from Dallas! One day hopefully I will get the chance. I really need to go to all these states that all my friends live in!

Basics

Q: Name of Band:
A: This is the Good Fight

Q: Your name:
A: Aaron Peña

Q: Your age:
A: 23

Q: On your myspace it says you're from Dallas, TX. Did you grow up there or did you move there at some point?
A: I am originally from south Texas. Brownsville Texas. I moved to Dallas when I was 19 to go to Dallas Baptist University

Q: Any siblings?
A: I have 2 older sisters and an older brother

Q: Is there any special reason why you decided to choose the career of music?
A: It is my passion! I love it! It's the only thing I can see myself doing.

Q: Anyone in your family who is musical?
A: Not really... Just my brother, he plays piano.

Q: When you were a kid, was this always your dream to pursue music?
A: I always loved music. My bother used to play the piano when I was just a baby and I would dance around haha. When I got into middle school, I had a friend named JJ who played guitar and I thought he was the coolest person ever. I wanted to play like him and I fell in love with playing the guitar and music.

Q: What kind of genre of music do you listen to?
A: Oh gosh everything. This is not a joke. Country, jazz, blues, classical, rock, pop, folk. It doesn't matter.

Q: Favorite singer:
A: Phil Wickham!!!! Most amazing live singer ever! Check him out!

Q: Favorite band:
A: Tough question, I have a few rocket summer, brand new, format just to name a few.

Q: What do you like to do for fun when you don't have a guitar in your hand?
A: Love to skim board and play basketball. Wish I could go pro in both. haha maybe in another life some time : )

Q: If you were to go on tour tomorrow, which city would you love to play first?
A: Man I guess LA. I have never been there and I have an obsession with beaches!

Q: How about if you were going on a world tour tomorrow, which country would you love to play first?
A: Wow! I think I would choose Sydney! I would love to visit Australia and go skim there.

Q: Is there anyone who you would love to go on tour with?
A: Um yes! The Rocket Summer!

Q: How would you describe your music?
A: Hmm depends when you catch me haha I like to write a bunch of different stuff. But for live, I like doing the whole acoustic pop rock feel in your face. At times I kind of slow it down a bit but not for too long. Energetic, truthful, passionate.

Q: Any bands or singers that influence you?
A: Many great ones. But once again Phil Wickham has had a big influence as to what I think a good singer should sound like. He knows how to control his voice and is a passionate singer.

4 time State Champs

My alma mata boys basketball team won their State Championship game friday night!!! This is their fourth straight! BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK!!! Oh btw, they're the first school in New Hampshire to do that.

My first NHL game

Was last thursday. The Boston Bruins took on the Los Angeles Kings in the TD Banknorth Garden. I had never been to a Bruins game, nor have I ever seen the LA Kings and it was my very first NHL game. So it was 3 firsts. I bought these tickets back in November or December. I was curious at what there was for seats left. To my surprise I came across 5 rows from the ice. So I decided to buy these tickets for my dad and myself for Christmas. Damn did that burn a huge ass whole in my pocket. $250 for the pair. But I really wanted the tickets really bad. I started off my night being neutral. I love the Bruins and the Kings are the parents of my Manchester Monarchs, so I decided it was best to be neutral. But yeah right, can you really stay neutral the whole night. Not me. I decided to go with the Kings since I really want them to make it to playoffs and the Bruins have already made it to that point.

When we got to our seats, I found out that we were right behind the Kings' bench! How amazing is that! 3 rows right behind! I got some amazing pictures! The Kings' ended up winning in overtime 3-2!!! When the Kings scored their 2nd goal, I was so excited that they tied it up, I hit the guy infront right in the back of the head. But he was too drunk to noticed and he didn't say anything to me, so I was all good. HAHAHA

Just look at that last photo! Dustin Brown (C) is so amazing in that! THAT SERIOUSLY IS THE BEST HOCKEY PHOTO I HAVE EVER TAKEN! NO LIE! Thank God my dad brought his camera in. His memory card is so amazing! Mine isn't.

This past Monday's Kyle XY

A WARNING IF YOU STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT, DON'T READ THIS. IT GIVES AWAY THE VERY END.

Monday, March 16th, 2009.

Today, I finally got to watch Monday's Kyle XY. The last, very last, Kyle XY. Let me begin with, I HATE THAT THE SHOW ENDED!!!!! WHYYY?!?!?! I LOVED THAT SHOW SO MUCH!!! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CANCEL IT? MY LIFE IS NOW OVER!!!!

That was seriously the cutest show ever! Well, it was extremely cute when Kyle and Amanda dated. Kyle is the cutest thing ever!

Ughhhhhhhh, I seriously hate ABCFamily for canceling it. What am I supposed to watch now at 9 on Monday nights?

Oh yeah, I hated the last episode. HOW CAN YOU END IT WITH CASSIDY TELLING KYLE THAT HE WAS HIS BROTHER?!?!?! HOW CAN YOU LEAVE IT AT THAT?!?!?!?! THAT'S NOT A GOOD ENDING!!! AND AMANDA WANTED TO GET BACK WITH KYLE!!!

That's all I wanted to say. I so frustrated with that channel!

I will have so more blogs tomorrow night. One about my first NHL game. I have tons of pictures from the game. And about my high school's boy basketball game that took place friday.

Happy St. Urho Day!

It's a Finnish holiday (well more Finnish-American) and since I'm part Finnish, I wanted to tell you about it.

Saint Urho Welcomes You!

St. Urho is said to have chased the grasshoppers out of Finland, thus saving the grape crop.

The legend of St. Urho originated in Northern Minnesota in the 1950s. However, there are differing opinions as to whether it began with the fables created by Sulo Havumaki of Bemidji, or the tongue-in-cheek tales told by Richard Mattson of Virginia. Either way, the legend has grown among North Americans of Finnish descent to the point where St. Urho is known and celebrated across the United States and Canada, and even in Finland.

St. Urho's Day is celebrated on March 16th, the day prior to the better known feast of some minor saint from Ireland, who was alleged to have driven the snakes from that island.

The legend of St. Urho says chased the grasshoppers out of ancient Finland, thus saving the grape crop and the jobs of Finnish vineyard workers. He did this by uttering the phrase: "Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen" (roughly translated: "Grasshopper, grasshopper, go to Hell!"). His feast is celebrated by wearing the colors Royal Purple and Nile Green. St. Urho is nearly always represented with grapes and grasshoppers as part of the picture.

We hope you enjoy our effort to honor this mythical Finnish-American hero. Please feel free to share your St. Urho experiences and celebrations by clicking on the phrase below and sending a note to the webmaster.

Sick and Tired

Boy, am I tired of waiting for the right guy to come around. Right now it seems like he's never, ever gonna get here. I know, I'm only eighteen. I'm young. I haven't waited that long, but damn, is this boy ever gonna get here?

I started liking this guy. When I first started talking to him, he seemed wicked chill. And I love when guys are chill. At first we started talking online. It was great. Then he met me in person. And I think that's where it went wrong. He took one look at me and said "nope, I deffinately do not want to be friends with her." I haven't talked to him for a few weeks now. And he probably won't talk to me again.

So tonight I was thinking, forget him. I don't need him. I've been doing a damn good job just having me in my life. I mean, I can't leave myself. Now I have to walk around seeing him and thinking to myself "damn, I was so close. I was so close to at least having a new friend." But then why in the hell would a good looking guy want to be friends with me? And even think about dating me. God, I have been so dumb to think that a guy would ever be into me.

I'm just gonna be one of those old ladies with 23 cats.

At least for now, I'm gonna really start trying to take a friend's advice that she gave to me a few months ago, but I never took it. I'm gonna stop wanting to come around. When he's ready, he'll get here.

Kids of Survival

(Dylan, Vin, Gary, Frank)
I was supposed to be going to a concert tomorrow night but unfortunately it got cancelled due to a shady promoter. I was going to see this new band (they're not new band, but new to me). A few weeks ago I got a message on myspace from their drummer Dylan asking me to check out his band. It seriously was the cutest message I have ever gotten from a band! He's so down to earth and wicked chill. And when I finished reading his message, I HAD TO CHECK OUT HIS BAND! I love when people in bands want to talk to their fans. And he does! He's true to his word. He does try to answer every comment they get! I hate when I send a band like a Hello, how are you ... and I don't get anything back. I know, I know some of them are busy, but when you respond to most of your fans and not others, thats just rude. But anyway, you should check out Dylan's band Kids of Survival!!! I hope that one day I get to see his band live and meet the rest of the band! Because I bet they are as rad as he is! Just go to my myspace page and Kids of Survival is currently my #8 friend on my top.

Go Away!

Ughh... I'm sick. Yet again. I was sick last month and now I'm sick again. I really, really hate being sick. Of course that's what I get for chasing hockey players around the city.

Yup, I got sick last thursday after I went out wednesday night to go to JW Hills to meet Boston Bruin Chuck Kobasew and Manchester Monarchs Kevin Westgarth and Richard Clune. Of course I was supposed to meet Monarch Brian Boyle, but he had to be a good Catholic boy and went to church. I don't blame him though. He and his family is very religious and it was Ash Wednesday. But I'm just sad because I feel like I have some Brian Boyle curse against me. Every single time I'm supposed to meet that boy, he has some other place to be. Most every time its him being shipped off to LA to play for the Los Angeles Kings but this time it was church. I wouldn't be like this if it was any other player, but I still have to yell at him for something he did to me last season (December 17th, 2007) and I still haven't been able to yell at him since then.

So I kinda want this school week to be over with so I can go home and start my spring break. I wanna go home and sleep for like 12 hours because I don't think this cold will go away until I get that much sleep. That's how it was with the last cold. And I don't think I'm gonna get enough sleep here.

COLD PLEASE GO AWAY! My cold not cold weather. I want the cold weather to stay so hockey season will stay. I know, I should be saying cold weather go away so I won't get sick again, but you don't understand how much I love hockey!!! I don't know what I'm gonna do May-October when there isn't hockey. I mean I love baseball but you don't understand what its gonna be like being stuck in Manchester, living right down the road from the Verizon Wireless Arena and not being able to go to hockey games!!! IT'S GONNA SUCK LIKE MAJORLY!!!!! I've never been stuck in Manchester all summer long, so I might complain a lot summer, I might not. Baseball might be that amazing.

Okay, that's it. I'm done talking. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Record crowd helps Chops go "pink in the rink"

02/28/2009 7:10 AM

A crowd of 10,475 fans, the most ever to see an AHL game in Des Moines, packed Wells Fargo Arena on Friday night for the Iowa Chops' second annual Pink in the Rink Night.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breast Cancer Care Coordinator program at John Stoddard Cancer Center.

Everything that can be pink was pink in the arena. Besides playing on pink ice, the Iowa Chops players wore special jerseys, which became available for purchase via live auction immediately following the game. There was also a special pink lighting ceremony during the game to celebrate the lives of thousands of cancer survivors, as well as the lives of those lost to cancer. Even the arena went pink, with pink lights outside to reflect the excitement and energy of the night.

Chops fans were invited to show their support for cancer research and this event in several ways. During home games leading up to Friday, fans were invited to make donations of spare change in jars designated to each Chops rookie. Matt Caruana, Adrian Veideman and Matt Beleskey dyed their hair pink for the game, and contributions made to the winning jar will be matched by the Chops veteran players.

Fans were also able to purchase a Pink in the Rink T-shirt to wear for the evening, and proceeds from T-shirt sales as well as crowd participation games, such as Pitch-a-Pig, will be part of the overall donation.

Last year’s inaugural Pink in the Rink event generated over $25,000 for the Stoddard Care Coordinator program.
